Who needs 'neopatristic' or 'metapatristic' theology?

Why some contemporary theologians are trying, as pointed out by the Reverend Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Saint Vlassios, fr. Hierotheos Vlachos in the following article:

to revise somewhat the Holy Tradition of the Church, interpreting again the words of the Holy Fathers? Apparently because Holy Tradition does not serve them to document the changes they want to bring to Church life in order approach those who choose to live outside Church, but also "Christians" of other doctrines.
But if Orthodox Church is corrupted and ceases to be the bearer of the only Truth, what will She have to offer to those outside Her? Is it possible that doing so in an effort to save those outside, will result in the loss of members of the Church?
Fortunately, the authenticity of the Truth of the Church is guaranteed by the Holy Spirit and not people, so God will always send the suitable persons who will defend the Truth with their lives and their words.
